1) What do you want to achieve by doing practical production work?
By doing this practical production work i'd like to get a greater understading of the production side of media. I'd like like to learn new skills and put these skills into a good piece of production work.
2) Do you want to work individually or in a pair?
I don't mind how i work, by working in a pair i think you are able to produce better ideas and you are able to talk about the ideas and maybe expand on that. When working individually i think that you're able to get on with the task in hand a lot better.
3) A comment on the work
I'd like to have a comment on my work to show that i've understood and used the different types of media in my production work. My work has been produced to a good standard and that i've understood what to do in terms of the task set.
4) Response to the specification briefs:
With the print option i think it's very restricted as to what you can do. With video, there is a greater expansion available as to what the final product will be.
My Marking of example material
Video
Voice From the Past: Level 3 (45/60)
I've graded this viedo at a level 3. It had a good use of sound, editing and shots in the clip. The sound at the end which was used really dragged you into what was happening and it built up the tension in the scene and the use of editing as well made this happen. It could have been improved by a better use of mise-en-scene.
The Case: Level 2 (34/60)
I graded this video as a level 2. I thought that this video was very average, in some ways a few different camera shots were used but that was probably the best thing about it!! There weren't many titles or sound used and i thought the clip was more like a trailer.
Print
MusicKing: Level 3 (37/60)
I graded this print at a level 3. The front cover is very average, some of the text you aren't able to read and you can only see half the title as it overlaps with the main picture. The double page is a lot better, it has a good use of text and images and the right fonts and colours are used. Overall, i think that the colours used need to be changed, most of the time you aren't able to read what has been written.
PM: Level 3 (46/60)
I graded this print at level 3. The front cover used looks professional and is the sort of thing that you'd see in the professional world today. The layout on every page is very good, especially on the double page spread which has a good use and positioning of images as well as the text. The font colours used are good and you're able to read what's been put. The one negative thing is the contents page which looks a bit cramped, there's too many colours used and it seems to be fighting against the background which is a very bright colour.
